Route 38. The Shepherds

We start the circular cycling route in the car park of the municipal pelota court in Lezaun. We head towards the northern part of the village and take the old road to Riezu. After covering around 1 km and crossing the stream, we continue along a narrow path between beech and oak trees. We gradually climb along the Camino de la Trinidad, surrounded by beech woods, until we reach the open grasslands before the Sierra de Andía. We continue along the watershed and pass the summit of Oskandia, at 1,215 m, then follow its ridge to the Hermitage of La Trinidad.

At this point, we head north along the Zaborrate path, passing by the Orzaran pond, and after about 100 m, just before the Zaborrate huts, we take a junction to the west. We continue along this path until we descend again to the Tauste Royal Drove Road, near the NA-120 road. From here, we descend gently along the drove road for 3 km and, just before reaching the road, take a new path that leads us back to the village of Lezaun.
